These are the same chewy drop cookies our moms made—but let’s be honest, we were making them as latch key kids in the ’80s, too. No oven, no fancy ingredients, just good old-fashioned chocolate melty magic that sets up on wax paper (unless you ate it warm with a spoon… which, honestly you can’t help).
They’re rich, fudgy, and come together in about 10 minutes—perfect for baking with kids, sneaking during nap time, or curbing a late-night cocoa craving without heating up the house in a Texas July.
No-Bake Cookies

Ingredients:
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy—your call)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups quick oats
Instructions:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, milk, and cocoa powder. Stir often and bring to a rolling boil. Let it boil (without stirring) for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
- Immediately stir in peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Then stir in oats until fully combined.
- Drop spoonfuls onto wax or parchment paper. Let cool and set for about 20–30 minutes (faster in the fridge if you’re impatient like me).
- Store in an airtight container (if they last that long).
